5 Fun facts about dogs you probably didn’t know!

Dogs are full of surprises! Just when you think you know everything about your fur baby, there’s always something new to learn. From quirky behaviors to fascinating traits, here are five fun facts about dogs that make us love them even more!

1. A dog’s nose can change color, turning pink or light brown in winter.

It is called “snow nose”, caused by a temporary loss of pigment in the nose. Snow nose is more common in breeds that originated in northern climates, such as Huskies, Shepherds, Retrievers, and Bernese Mountain dogs.

2. They can be left or right-pawed.

Similar to how humans are left or right-handed, dogs, too, can show “handedness”. You might gain some insights by observing which paw they prefer to hold a chew or take the first step.

3. Dogs don’t feel guilt.

At least researchers haven’t found the proof that they do. The “guilty” expressions that we see are usually expressions of fear and stress. They may be cued by the owner’s body language and exhibit appeasement behaviors for forgiveness.

4.The French bulldog is the most popular dog breed in the United States in 2024.

Followed by Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, and Standard Poodle.

5. The longest-living dog lived for 31 years and 165 days.

Bobi, 11 May 1992 – 21 October 2023, was a male purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo dog from Portugal. He was claimed to be the oldest dog to ever live and the first dog on record to reach 30 years.

Which one surprised you the most?

Best regards to you and your pup,
