5 Fun facts about dogs you probably didn’t know! (Part 2)

As a dog enthusiast, I used to be that nerd (still am😆) who collects random dog facts and insert them in conversations out of nowhere. I used this tactic to find fellow dog lovers, and surprisingly, it worked quite well! So here I go again…sharing another five surprising facts about dogs that’ll make you love them even more!

1. Dogs Can “Smell” Time

Dogs have an incredible sense of smell, and they can actually detect the passage of time. They notice scent changes in the environment to know when it’s time for dinner or when you’re due home!

2. Your Dog’s Nose Print is Unique

Just like human fingerprints, no two dog nose prints are the same. Your pup’s nose pattern is one-of-a-kind!

3. Dogs Dream, Too

Ever seen your dog twitch or move while sleeping? They’re likely dreaming. Research shows dogs have dreams, often replaying moments from their day, which means you are likely in it.🥹

4. They Can Understand More Than 100 Words

On average, dogs can learn and understand up to 165 words. A border collie named Chaser is known for having the largest vocabulary of any dog, with over 1,000 words!

5. Dogs Have “Eternal Puppy” Syndrome

Unlike wolves, dogs stay playful and curious throughout their whole lives - a trait they retain from their wolf ancestors’ puppy stage.

Which one of these facts surprise you the most?

Best regards to you and your pup,

Xing, CPDT-KA & Mika💜
